Priority 3 Complete and timely datasets

In Lancashire and South Cumbria, we ensure maternity datasets are complete and timely through consistent use of a shared maternity electronic patient record across all provider trusts, supported by clear data standards and system-wide oversight. Data quality is monitored through regular validation, local and national dashboards (including Maternity Services Data Set), and collaborative working between providers, commissioners, business intelligence teams and the Local Maternity and Neonatal System. Data completeness and timeliness are reinforced through contractual requirements, routine performance review, targeted data quality deep dives, and ongoing support for clinical and administrative teams to address gaps, coding issues and delays, enabling accurate reporting and timely insight to support safety, quality improvement and equity.
